Gosh there were so many things in this piece that took me (us) back in time. Laughs, tears and everything in between #greensofas xx

I'm overly sentimental if I don't force myself out of it. I pretend to not care about inanimate objects, but I miss them when they've gone.

…. A reason, a season or a lifetime Sharon … wouldn’t the chooks appreciate a season? I’m more concerned about the other adage that things happen in 3s … what’s next?

Love this Sharon - I totally get it! A sofa is where everything happens. Brilliantly explained. So cute about your dogs on there too 💗

Btw, Single White Female is indeed a classic film, and even though the kids were going through a period of liking psychological horror movies - I had forgotten just how graphic the SWF was!

Yikes. I don’t remember it being graphic but I do remember the bits in the shoot being v scary!

Oh what a hoot!! My husband has a futon like this- well worn, old fashioned and loved to bits - by him☺️In fact he said when we recently moved to your part of the world & I quote.”If the futon doesn’t come, neither do I!”

Enjoy your new addition to the family ☺️You’ll be cooking like a pro before you know it!

I love that: "Where 'Sit' Happens!" What a loving tribute to your aged and humble two-seater, Sharon and all that it has witnessed in your family. Wonderful!

This is such a great story - the simple object that has lived with you through thick and thin and seen all manner of events, people and animals use it as a way station through life. Strangley moving story - our sofa is bloody ancient as well. Probably a health hazard.

This is awesome Sharon. All the love in the world for Digby and Fudge! I've never had a loyal sofa; the current one is probably the closest, but he's looking tired and might have to make way for a younger model.

Don’t chop him in Lewis - do what I do and only use dim overhead lighting. Covers a multitude of sins.

Lovely Sharon. I would feel right at home on there. I loved the dogs too.

And I hadn’t realised you had so many children. They seem to have multiplied when you weren’t looking.

I hope the cooker earns its place.

Ha! That was my stepsons birthday party many years ago - a shock to my system having that many kids in the house. Think the dogs may have been hiding.

Love a good sofa, and one with a story is even better. On my first writing course, I wrote a poem about a well-travelled sofa, which my sister passed on to me, then after we had it for many years, it was passed on again to a friend. That was a two-seater. I was inspired by the Seamus Heaney poem, 'A Sofa in the Forties'. My poem was 'A Sofa in the Eighties'.
